Yes. Smart Emails needs to stay installed for live changes to work.

Why?

After the initial export, Smart Emails synchronizes supported live settings and translations with Shopify. If you uninstall the app, these updates stop and the uninstall cleanup removes Smart Emails Metafields and registered email-body translations.

What happens if I uninstall?

  • The primary HTML previously pasted into Shopify is not automatically replaced with Shopify's default template
  • Smart Emails Metafield values and definitions are removed
  • Smart Emails body_html translations are removed
  • Design sets, settings, and export history are removed from the Smart Emails database as part of the cleanup and later Shopify data-redaction process
  • Reinstalling starts a new setup; it does not automatically restore the deleted design

If you want to stop the paid plan but keep the app and its design data, cancel the subscription instead of uninstalling Smart Emails.
