Preview vs Reality

The editor preview shows a close approximation of how your email will look. However, email clients (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail) each have their own rendering rules.

Common Differences

  • Outlook — may add extra spacing around images and tables
  • Gmail — clips emails longer than 102 KB
  • Dark Mode — Smart Emails includes matching color declarations, but individual clients can still apply their own inversion rules

If you notice a significant difference, send support the template name, receiving email client and version, device, light/dark setting, and a screenshot. A real Shopify notification is more conclusive than a browser-only preview.
